There is something special about the art
of a child. It is usually simple in both theme and form, and
yet at the same time it is vibrant and full of life, hinting
at complexities observed but not yet understood. It reminds
us of a world seen through eyes more innocent than our own,
a simpler world full of the promises of beauty and wonder
and awe.
Like most parents, the Pacheco's have been
saving their children's art from the very first scribbles.
When they learned that Thomas had cancer, it occurred to them
to sell that art, both digital and print copies as well as
originals, to help raise money for Thomas's treatment and
to allow them to worry less about their medical and living
expenses and concentrate more on being a family. The idea
seemed crazy at first, but they discussed it with Thomas and
he loved it.
Only a few years ago this would not have
been possible, but the Internet has changed the world forever.
Right now the idea is simple, but the family has larger visions.
If this proves successful and they can raise sufficient funds,
they have ideas that range from helping other individual families
who have children with cancer to implement this same or similar
concept, to the formation of a full-fledged organization with
the goal of helping the families of children with terminal
illnesses all across the nation or even around the world.
If you want to help, just head into the
gallery and buy a work of art. Even the smallest purchases
will help. You can start with the featured
pictures, you can just browse
the entire gallery. You can also become
a member, which will give you full access to the digital
versions of all the artwork on the entire site, both present
and future. We hope you'll choose to help, but even if not,
we thank you for visiting and hope you'll spread the word.
